We would like to personally welcome you to our cancer center network. There are a few things you should know in order to familiarize yourself with our exceptional staff and facilities.Our philosophy is to provide you with the most advanced treatment options available. Every case is different and your treatment plan is individually designed for you.

General Guidelines

• We are open from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday. Refer to our FAQ section for more general information about our office.
• Your first visit is designed to provide the information we will need to plan your treatment. Since it will be very comprehensive, it will take longer than regular appointments – up to a couple of hours to complete. You may want to bring a family member or friend with you to assist you in answering questions and also to be a second set of ears for your questions concerning your treatment. You will also have the opportunity to meet our staff, ask questions, and learn how our dedicated staff can serve you.
• Your treatment appointments are generally much shorter, usually taking no more than 30 minutes. You may also have weekly lab work and you will see Dr. Voorhees once a week so that he can check on your progress.
• Once you have completed your treatments, you will be given instructions for follow-up appointments and support.
• If you need support services – physical, emotional, financial, etc. – please let us know. There are many programs and services available to meet your needs, many are either covered by your insurance or are at no cost to you.
• Insurance co-payments are expected at the time of treatment. If you have insurance questions or concerns, refer to the insurance section of the website or ask us either by phone or when you’re here.

Our staff is prepared to travel with you throughout your cancer journey, providing both you and your family with the education, resources and support that you need. If you have any questions or concerns at any time throughout your treatment, please do not hesitate to ask one of us.

Radiation Therapy

Radiation Therapy has been used for the treatment of cancer and several non-cancerous diseases for over 100 years. Radiation Therapy is a rapidly changing and progressive field of medicine. The often-negative connotation of a cancer diagnosis and treatment is no longer the way it was. By using the most modern equipment and computer planning available anywhere in the world, our painless treatment techniques are almost always without significant complications. Radiation-effects differ for each patient, so your physician will discuss treatment techniques, goals and side effects with you. Radiation only affects the areas that are being treated. We have many ways to design the treatment to target only the tumors. This spares the normal tissues.

Radiation Oncologist

A Radiation Oncologist is a doctor, an MD who is a specialist, trained to diagnose, treat, plan and monitor patients with all types of cancer, as well as experts in cancer biology, radiation medicine and physics . You will meet with your Radiation Oncologist on your first visit. Your Oncologist will explain to you the disease, your prognosis, your treatment plan and answer any other question you and your family may have. We will work in conjunction with other specialists and your primary care physician to give you the best treatment possible. Your Oncologist is your link to a successful treatment plan that will best serve your individual needs.

Taking Radiation Therapy to the Next Level

Corpus Christi Cancer Center can offer you the most advanced Radiation Therapy Treatment available anywhere. We have earned our reputation by providing our patients with the best treatment possible and by listening to each patient and addressing their needs. “State Of The Art” Radiation Therapy services are provided: Varian Linear Accelerator, Varis Record and Verify Systems, RadioPharmecutical Treatment, PET/CT Treatment Planning. All of these exciting new technologies allow us to deliver the most advanced treatment, more accurate than ever before available anywhere. Our program allows our patients to experience significantly fewer side effects, and experience demonstrates the potential of higher cure rates. PET/CT combines two types of imaging modalities, allowing us more complete and accurate information about your cancer in even the earliest stages. PET/CT helps us to understand the exact location and extent of the disease. The result, treatment can be safer and more effective.
